Setting Your Homepage

In order for featured posts to appear on your homepage, you must first set a homepage on WordPress. To use Featured Posts, the WordPress theme must be set to XPress. Under WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, choose Activate for the XPress theme.

You will need to either create a new page or use an existing page and have the template set to “front page”. You can do so by opening the page or creating a new one, then navigating to Page Attributes and changing the template to “front page”.

Then within WordPress, you can set it as the homepage by navigating to Settings > Reading. Set your homepage displays to a static page and choose the page to be used as the homepage.

Featuring a Post

To feature a post you have created, add the tag “featured” to the tags section of your post and update the post. If a “featured” tag is not already created, you will need to create the tag.
